More about this work

Dennis Tyfus describes De Nor (2018) as a social sculpture. On this pink stone stage he organises concerts, performances and parties. As a sculpture it is a reminder of those past moments, and a support that waits patiently for those still to come.

The work was numbered 248 in ‘Ultra Eczema’. This project began in 1997 with a fanzine and a compilation cassette. It evolved into an active platform for events, books and vinyl. The numbering tracks Tyfus’ artistic practices.

De Nor is a free place, for the artist himself and for others. During activation, Tyfus adopts different roles: as curator, producer, director, assistant ... Artist, performers and audience encounter different dynamics in this social sculpture. All bodies present form one large whole that transcends the individual.

Before and after the planned performances you can step on stage yourself as a spectator. Or observe other visitors from the gallery. Which role will you adopt?
