SUPERFLEX

SUPERFLEX was founded in Copenhagen in 1993 by Jakob Fenger, Bjørnstjerne Christiansen and Rasmus Rosengren Nielsen. The Danish collective develops new types of urban planning. Their alternative models for new social and economic organisation are often playful, going from drinks and hypnosis sessions even as far as plant nurseries.

SUPERFLEX works within and beyond the physical location of the exhibition space. A key work is Superkilen (2011): a public park in Copenhagen as a new shared space, designed together with the residents of different origins.

Their solo exhibitions so far include Paris (2022); Guadalajara, Mexico (2022); Graz, Austria (2021); and Basel (Switzerland). Public projects include Havneholmen Metro Station (2024) in Copenhagen; Mujarrah Galaxy (2022) in Sharjah, United Emirates; and Play Contract (2021) in Billund, Denmark.

One Two Three Swing! is also in Vordingborg, Denmark (2020) and in Dora Observatory, South Korea (2019).

One Two Three Swing!, 2024

Sculpture, new work for Middelheim Museum Collection

Imagine that the orange structure of this 'swing' continues under the ground, and that this connects this work with similar examples in other places. Then we can move together in a motion that can be felt all over the world! By swinging together, we activate collective energy. The work encourages exploration of the power of play and teamwork. And also consideration of collective action, democracy and social cohesion.

Continuous viewing. For the best experience, swing with three people side by side. Please take care of children when swinging.
